Curtain Prices in Brisbane: What Affects the Cost

Made-to-measure curtains priced for your windows, with a free measure and quote

There’s no single price for custom curtains, because every curtain is made for a particular window. What you pay depends on the size of the opening, the fabric, the heading, whether you choose one layer or two, the track and any motors. This guide explains each factor so you can plan a budget before your free in-home measure. EziLux curtains are cut and sewn in our Underwood workroom, typically within 2–3 weeks of order, and come with a 3-year warranty.

What affects the price of custom curtains?

These are the things that move a curtain quote up or down, roughly in the order they come up at a measure.

1. Width and drop

The bigger the opening, the more fabric and the longer the track. Floor-to-ceiling glass, wide sliding doors and long runs of windows use the most. A ceiling-to-floor drop also uses more fabric than a curtain that stops at the window frame.

2. Fullness

Fullness is how much fabric goes into the curtain compared with the width of the track. More fabric gives deeper, more generous folds. Sheers need more fullness than heavier fabrics to look right, so a wide sheer can use a lot of cloth. We set the fullness for each curtain based on the fabric, the heading and the width of the opening.

3. Fabric

Sheer (including fine voile, linen-look, textured and coloured sheers) and blockout fabrics are priced differently, and each comes in ranges at different price points. The range and colour you choose is one of the biggest levers in a quote.

4. Heading

S-fold, pinch pleat and box pleat headings use different amounts of fabric, and S-fold hangs from a dedicated wave track. See our S-fold vs pinch pleat vs box pleat comparison.

5. One layer or two

A single sheer or blockout is one curtain on one track. Double curtains are two curtains on two tracks for the same window, so they cost more, but one opening then gives you daytime privacy and night-time darkness.

6. Track and fixing

Ceiling-fixed or wall-fixed, the length of the track, and straight or curved for bay and corner windows. On blockout, running the track past the window each side helps keep light out and adds a little track and fabric.

7. Motorisation

Each motorised track has its own Novo N21 curtain motor. Motorising one layer of a double curtain costs less than motorising both. See motorised curtains Brisbane.

8. Installation

Ceiling height, access and any special fixing. High-set windows, voids and curved tracks take more time to install than a standard window.

9. Number of windows

One room or the whole home. We measure every opening you want covered at the same visit, so you can see the full picture and decide room by room.

How much do sheer, S-fold, double and motorised curtains cost?

Each type has its own cost drivers. As a rule, a single sheer S-fold on a sliding door costs much less than a motorised double curtain across a void.

Sheer curtains

Sheers often run from the ceiling to the floor and need generous fullness, so the width and drop of the glass and the sheer you choose drive most of the cost. Sheer curtains Brisbane.

Are S-fold curtains expensive?

S-fold needs a dedicated wave track and the right fullness for your track width. Whether it costs more or less than pinch pleat or box pleat depends on the fabric and the window, so ask us to price more than one heading if you’re undecided. S-fold (wave) curtains.

Blockout curtains

Blockout fabric, plus the track position, run-past and drop that keep light out around the edges. Blockout curtains Brisbane.

Double curtains

Two fabrics, two headings and two tracks for one opening, plus none, one or two motors. Double curtains.

Motorised curtains

The curtain and track, plus one Novo N21 motor per motorised track. How many tracks you motorise makes the biggest difference. Motorised curtains Brisbane.

Worked example: one sliding door, three ways

Here’s how the same opening, a sliding door about 2.4 m wide, changes in scope as you add options. Each step adds to the quote.

  1. Single sheer: S-fold sheer on a ceiling-fixed track, opened by hand with a wand. One curtain, one track.
  2. Add a blockout: a blockout curtain on a second track for night-time privacy and darkness. Two curtains, two tracks.
  3. Motorise the blockout: a Novo N21 motor on the blockout track, so the curtain you close every night runs by remote or a light pull. Two curtains, two tracks, one motor.

Custom vs ready-made curtains

Ready-made curtains are a sensible choice for some windows. They come in set widths and drops, so they suit standard-sized windows and a tight budget.

Custom curtains cost more because they’re made for your exact opening. The fullness is set for your track width, the drop is planned to the floor, and the track is positioned to control light and stack neatly. Ready-made packets often use less cloth, so the folds can look flat once the curtain is closed. Made to measure makes the biggest difference on wide glass, ceiling-to-floor drops, double tracks and motorised curtains.

Tips for budgeting for curtains

  • Start with the rooms that matter most: often blockout in bedrooms and sheers in the main living area.
  • Use one layer where one job is enough: if a room only needs daytime privacy or darkness, a single curtain does the job.
  • Save motors for the right windows: wide glass, voids, high windows and curtains you open every day.
  • Plan ahead: if you might motorise later, tell us so we can plan the track for it.
  • Compare fabrics and headings: the fabric range is one of the biggest levers, so look at options side by side. You can order free samples or visit our Underwood showroom.
  • Measure the whole home at once: it costs nothing extra to have every window measured, and you can still order room by room.

Why a free measure gives you an exact quote

Online estimates can’t see your windows. At a free in-home measure, we measure each opening, check the ceiling and fixing points, look at where light could sneak in and how much room each curtain needs to stack back, then talk through fabric, heading, track and motorisation with you.

That’s why the quote matches what you’ve chosen for each window. We measure across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and greater SEQ.

Curtain price FAQs

Do you have a price list for curtains?

We don’t publish a fixed price list, because every EziLux curtain is made to measure for a particular window. The price depends on the size of the opening, the fabric, the heading, whether you choose one or two layers, the track and fixing, any motors and the installation. After a free in-home measure, we give you a quote for your home.

Are S-fold curtains more expensive than pinch pleat or box pleat?

It depends on the window. S-fold curtains hang from a dedicated wave track, with the fullness set for your track width, while pinch pleat and box pleat use different amounts of fabric. The fabric and the size of the opening also change the total, so the difference varies from window to window. If you’re deciding between headings, ask us to price more than one at your measure.

How much more do double curtains cost than a single curtain?

A double curtain is two curtains and two tracks made for one opening, so it costs more than a single sheer or blockout on its own. How much more depends on the two fabrics, the headings, the size of the window and whether you motorise one layer, both or neither. If a room only needs one job done, such as daytime privacy or darkness, one curtain on a single track is enough.

How does a motor change the price of a curtain?

Each motorised track has its own Novo N21 curtain motor, so the cost rises with the number of tracks you motorise. A double curtain with both layers motorised has two motors. Motors are most worthwhile on wide glass, voids, high windows and curtains you open every day. On a small, easy-to-reach window, a manual wand is usually all you need.

Are custom curtains worth paying more for than ready-made?

Ready-made curtains come in set widths and drops, and they often use less fabric, so the folds can look flat once the curtain is closed. Custom curtains are made for your exact opening, with the fullness set for your track, the drop planned to the floor and the track positioned to control light. For a standard window on a tight budget, ready-made can be enough. For wide glass, ceiling-to-floor drops, double tracks or motors, made to measure gives a better fit and finish.

What does an EziLux curtain quote include?

Your quote is based on the curtains, tracks and any motors we’ve planned for each window, along with installation by our team. We measure each opening at your free in-home measure and talk through fabric, heading, track and motorisation first, so the quote matches what you’ve chosen.

Do curved, bay or high windows cost more?

They can. Curved and bay windows need a curved track, and high windows and voids can need extra access and special fixing at installation. Track shape, ceiling height and access are all part of the price, so we check them at the measure.

How can I keep the cost of custom curtains down?

Start with the rooms that need curtains most, choose one layer where one job is enough, and save motors for windows that are hard to reach or used every day. Comparing fabric ranges and headings at your measure also helps. If you might add a motor later, tell us so we can plan the track for it.
